Good evening readers! I took a week off because there wasn’t a lot to talk about with respect to COVID-19 data…things were pretty stable. This is a good thing, but even if things are quiet, I want to check in regularly.
This week, the FDA and CDC authorized and recommended the use of the bivalent COVID-19 booster for children ages 5-11. This means that anyone over the age of 5 can get a bivalent booster provided that they are more than 2 months past their most recent booster. It’s pretty important to go get this done if you haven’t done so already. That’s because there’s a collection of new variants causing surges in Europe and we’ve learned from experience that what happens in Europe eventually finds its way to the United States. As the weather gets colder and we approach flu season and the holidays, it is very likely that we will also see a surge in COVID-19. Let’s begin by looking at what is happening globally.
